Tip 1:
- Prepare a checklist of what to do with 1-3 items to keep reviewing during the match: Look at it at changeovers and if possible recall the checklist after each point.
Tip 2:
- Keep statistics of what your opponent does. Like which shots are favorite and which are frequently missed. Experienced players automatically keep these statistics but need to analyze and properly utilize.
Tip 3:
- Play drop shots and other plays like serve and volley early in the match to get these plays into your opponent's head. Opponent will watch out for these plays all match long.
Tip 4:
- Adding to tip #2: Often it is not obvious how your opponents strength and weaknesses compare. In a recent match only after playing to the opponents backhand constantly it was realized that the actually good looking forehand created lots more misses than the backhand. Now don't start playing only to the weaker side (the forehand in this case) as this would train your opponent's weekness. Instead mix it up and go to the stronger side first and then attack the weaker side.
